Narangba Sports Approval
In July 2011 council approved the development application for the next stage of sporting facilities at the Harris Avenue complex. Throughout this process Council officers and I have undertaken consultation with Narangba United Soccer Club, the high school, and Neighbourhood Watch groups.
This approval now opens up the way for these enhanced facilities for Narangba to move towards securing funding in future budgets. The facility’s approval includes additional soccer fields, and a future tennis complex. Establishment of additional soccer fields will enable the growing Soccer Club to be located solely at Harris Ave complex and frees up the Williamina Court fields for other growing sports.
The $1.3M soccer construction project received a boost in November 2011 with the announcement of a $721,617 grant from the state government. Construction of the new fields is expected to commence early in the 2012/13 financial year.
